I was wandering around Socious trying to find what I needed (the "first time speaker" SHARE video to share with a co-worker), when I remembered Mary Anne mentioning that it would be great if more of us blogged, took a survey, and pretty much just provided social commentary. So, I tried to add to the existing MVS blog. I kept trying to figure out how to do it, and eventually realized you need access to do that. You know Mary Anne, once I told her, I ended up with my own blog. Now I really have to walk the talk and actually muse about something. I won't start off by talking about how hard it was for me to find some basic things like the video I was looking for on Socious - maybe another time...
I'll start off here by wondering how many folks are ready for the secure FTP delivery that will be *required* to be used for most electronic deliveries by the 4Q this year? You can try it out right now (it's been there since October 15, 2012). Once you've gotten set up for it, that's one less thing to worry about -- especially if you are planning on getting z/OS V2.1 4Q of this year and that will be forefront on your mind then.
If you haven't tried the connectivity test, go to Shopz web page (https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/ShopzSeries/ShopzSeries.jsp). The connectivity test information was hard for me to find, but once you are on this page scroll to the bottom to find “Connectivity Test for SW download readiness”. Follow the instructions from there. Heck, I even managed to get it working, so hopefully it won't be too hard for you.
Here's to your successful test also!
