From Justin Bastin, SHARE President
The Status of SHARE session is a cornerstone of SHARE’s semi-annual events, and serves as an opportunity for the board of directors to report on the association’s activities and field questions from delegates. For the first time in our history, we leveraged technology to go virtual with this session. By splitting it into an in-person session at SHARE Phoenix and a virtual session held in April, we were able to reach delegates who could not make the conference, or those who were onsite in Phoenix but chose to go to a technical session. At both Status of SHARE sessions, board members and senior management provided delegates with updates regarding SHARE’s finances and business, as well as activities related to the technical direction of our projects and programs. Overall, we were pleased with the outcome of this new approach.
Looking ahead to SHARE Pittsburgh, we are eager to share our latest initiatives — Women in IT and digital badging. With Women in IT, continuing from SHARE Phoenix, SHARE will be able to reach out to help women in technology through education, networking with like-minded individuals, and enabling them to influence the SHARE environment for the benefit of all its members.
We’re also expanding our digital badging initiative, which recognizes accomplishments and can be shared widely online through LinkedIn profiles, websites, emails, and digital resumes. The digital badges were recently launched for previous top-rated speakers, and will be expanded in Pittsburgh. We want to recognize the achievements of the SHARE community and continue to acknowledge the hard work of our speakers.
Beyond preparing for our semi-annual events, the SHARE board is evaluating the association’s current technology stack and building out a roadmap. This roadmap will serve as a guide to improve online offerings such as content management, speaker management, the mobile app, and a learning management system. We are also looking to revise the SHARE strategic plan to become a three-year rolling plan, which will continue to focus on our three main pillars: education, networking, and influence. In 2020, we’ll also officially launch a year-round partner program, leveraging our network to provide more regular activities that engage the community.
There is much on the horizon to look forward to. In the meantime, please review the technical agenda for SHARE Pittsburgh. The SHARE team is passionate about helping you not only build your own knowledge and connect with fellow SHARE delegates, but also helping enable you to influence exhibitors represented at the SHARE Technology Exchange Expo and achieve better ROI with tools you already use. SHARE leadership will continue exploring new and different ways to reach our delegates by leveraging technology moving forward to become the indispensable resource for all things enterprise information technology.
Come to SHARE Pittsburgh to hear more about the SHARE experience and how to become part of this community. I look forward to seeing you at our summer event!
