Break out the peace signs, tie-dye, and bell-bottoms and join the party as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the mainframe and the next 60 years of innovation. SHARE Orlando is the place to be as we celebrate this milestone. The mainframe is as timeless as the calls for peace and love in the 1960s, and there are numerous ways to join the festivities!
Visit the SHARE Booth
Don’t forget to stop by the SHARE booth (Booth No. 312 at The Grand C/D/E) to take a team photo or selfie, submit a SHARE’d Knowledge proposal and score a SHARE-branded YETI, update your membership profile, and take home a SHARE Orlando t-shirt.
60th Anniversary of the Mainframe Party
SHARE members are invited to the 60th anniversary of the mainframe party during the welcome reception on Sunday, March 3. Pose for photos with colleagues under the balloon arch, grab a share of the mainframe birthday cake, and sip a mainframe mimosa. Members will have a gas at SHARE Orlando with games and 60s swag.
SHARE Women in IT Panel
The Women in IT panel, Encouraging Women in IT, will include discussions about the milestones of women in the mainframe ecosystem and how to pay it forward by encouraging one another in the technology space. Cynthia Overby, SHARE board of directors secretary, Carla Flores, Broadcom liaison and global cyber security solution advisor, Buffi Gresh, Ensono chief of staff and vice president of global business operations, and Nike Ligon-Kembi, IBM program manager for DevOps, will share their own stories and how breaking glass ceilings also means mentoring other women along the way. RSVP for the panel during your SHARE Orlando registration.
SHARE Technology Expo
In the SHARE Technology Expo, members can start their SHARE Orlando experience on Monday, March 4 by visiting the Women in IT (WIT), veterans, and first-time SHARE attendee activation areas. At the WIT networking area, peers and panelists will continue their conversation about mentoring women in the mainframe space, while the Veterans in IT area will allow mainframers to network with other veterans and discuss resources and future needs. First Time Attendees will be able to use their networking space to meet up with other new SHARE members and attendees, meet with SHARE ambassadors who can answer their questions, and learn how to make the most of their conference experience. Ask SHARE members to “gimme some skin,” and continue those conversations throughout the conference.
Bingo
Don’t forget to play networking bingo with your colleagues to learn a little more about each other. Who attended a SHARE event in the ‘60s? Who’s a first-time attendee? Cover the spaces on the bingo card and break the ice.
Walk Down Memory Lane
Take a walk down Mainframe Memory Lane. Follow the floor decals through the history of the mainframe and explore the length of the original mainframe’s footprint. The timeline will have fun facts about the mainframe, showcase how the platform has evolved over the years, and highlight some of the greatest milestones in mainframe history. SHARE members can then make their own predictions for the mainframe’s future.
